the alliance makes you stronger, because you can field a larger army. the alliance also provides more weapons systems, more fuel, more logistical support in general.

disadvantages
as a member of an alliance, your military personnel also have to be diplomats. whenever you a have high ranking officers, opinions on strategy are going to differ. in the end, these disagreements could cause the alliance to crumble. an ex. of how this might work . is if you look at patton and montgomery, during ww ii. both men despised each other, but were on the same team.
