21x^2+15x-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 36x^3-6 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Start by factoring the GCF

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And no it is not 36x^3-6

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\Huge\color{blue}{ \sf 21x^2+15x-6}\) \(\Huge\color{blue}{ \sf 7x^2(3)+5x(3)-2(3)}\) \(\Huge\color{blue}{ \sf 3(7x^2+5x-2)}\) to factor \(\color{blue}{ \sf 7x^2+5x-2}\) \(\color{blue}{ \sf (7x-2)(x+1)}\) so what would your final answer be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7x-2)(x+1) isnt right

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Oh,. really? How come? -2x+7x=5x the middle term -2 * 1 = -2 (the last term 7x * x = 7x^2 (the first term) Please show me my mistake

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Did you put in just "(7x-2)(x+1)" without the 3 ?

I won't give the whole answer but I can tell you that it starts off 3(x-1)
