The perimeter of a paved area being built at a playground is going to be 46 meters. If the length and width are each a whole number of meters, what should the length and width of the area be to cover the greatest possible area? Draw a picture and make an organized list to solve.
My teacher won't help so can I get some kind of sample problem???
Please start by drawing a picture, as the question asks you to do. Choose letters to represent the length and the width and use them to label the length and width of your (rectangular) playground. Use the Draw utility (below).
Can't I just use L and W???
Make a list of the combinations that would work 11..12 10..13 9 .. 14 8..15 etc Calculate the area for each 11 x 12 =132 10 x 13 = 130 etc
