What's the value of x and y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. x = 54°, y = 63° b. x = 72°, y = 54° c. x = 54°, y = 72° d. x = 63°, y = 54°

Can you tell me the size of the unlabeled angle in the triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No:(

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Are you sure? Isn't it a supplementary angle to 126 degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's b or c, right?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Well, if the outside angle was 126, the inside must be 180-126 = 54 degrees. That means that we have to eliminate any answer choices which do not add up to 126 degrees. That leaves b and c, as you suggested. Now which one to choose? Here I think you need to just look at the diagram and choose the one which best matches what you see.
