Which term refers to the internal struggle a Muslim can overcome through praying, fasting, giving to charity, submitting to Allah, and following the Qur’an? A. synagogue B. ayatollah C. jihad D. minaret

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd go with (C) jihad. In Islam, jihad has many meanings and one of them is that of the "greater jihad" which is the internal spiritual struggle to adhere to the teachings of Allah. The others don't make sense because a synagogue is a Jewish temple, a minaret is a tower, and an ayatollah is a religious leader.

jihad=(among Muslims) a war or struggle against unbelievers.
