Genisis/Bible issues with evolution? I love science! I also love Jesus how does evolution and christianity work? My parents are creationist I don't believe in creationism tho? any other christians willing to help me out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill hhelp! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so can I believe in evolution and christianity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ugh tricky question.. well Christians ususally believe in God creating the earth since it describes in detail how God ceated the eath its sometimes hard to find science facts and such without evolution coming into play... but its possible to maintain a creationist view and still love science..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't believe in creationism tho :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

christianity is like saying that god made us but evolution claims that we all come from common ancestors (like how we use almost the same codon rules as apes) if your a real deep christianity you can only pick one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am a real deep chritian tho! I love science too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya.. gotta pick on.. sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dont believe in "creationism" either idk what it is but im not going to tell you what to pick, its your opinion you can pick both but it sorda wont make sense (my opinion) i understand what evolution is and where they got there hypothesis from but i believe in christianity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm lost I want to believe creationism though it doesn't make much sense, I think evolution explains it better >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well here is the thing in the bible it says god created all things so case closed :)

OpenStudy (linda3):

I'm a Roman Catholic, and as a catholic it would be a sin if I believe that God did not create the earth, It's like saying you believe in God but you don't believe He exists. You have either be for Him, or your against Him. So it's just a matter of figuring out where you stand- sometimes you just have to follow even if you don't understand because in the end you will find your way and everything will make sense. If you call your self a Christian live by it and be true to your word- even if you don't understand at the moment. Hope this helps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so true^^^^^^^^

OpenStudy (linda3):

And I'm looking into becoming a biology major- and I absolutely don't agree with evolution. I think it's stupid- we did not come from monkey's. Monkey's do not have souls but we do- i think thats the part you are probably confused about. Remember as Christians we believe that after we die there's heaven and hell and our soul is met with God- animals and trees don't go to heaven or hell when they die- because they don't have souls. But that does not mean God remakes them in heaven. Apes/monekeys also don't have free will.... I hope what ever i'm saying you understand. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You seem smart, make your own form of thought on the subject. Make sure to analyze what you read, and seek the truth. If things like the bible seems faulty and make no sense then find something that does, creationism is no way compatiable with christianity. (Live a life on reason and science.) http://outcampaign.org/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@linda3 I agree with evolution completly though :( Also evolution doesn't mean we evolved from monkeys it just means we have a common ancestor. I love science and I want to become a biologist too someday so its hard really to believe in creationism I just don't see how it makes sense >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

evolution says that we evolved from apes -.-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm a Christian too, I believe that the earth was created by God, and even if we came from a half-monkey half-human ancestor they would have found bones by now of it. Also I don't see how creationism makes sense.... -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GUYS ITS HER OPINION WE CANT TELL HER WHAT TO PICK we can only suggest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ik that....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with her anyway that the world was created by God....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@onix1999 YES we did evolve from apes I read a science book that proves that we are evolved from apes it is very interesting!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe that GOD created the World and I will always believe that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The bible was also written before any createism what founded so yes I truly believe that God created the earth.

OpenStudy (linda3):

It's okay, I understand where you're coming from, just pray about it and don't make rash decisions yet just because you don't understand. Quitting on something because you don't understand would be one of the worst regrets. Just think.... If Albert Einstein couldn't understand all his homework... but he did not give up and look what happened- he strived to understand and he proved the whole world. Many more people have persevered, now it's your turn. ~ Always remember that God is so infinite in His power that it is beyond our capability of understanding and it is better to walk this world with little knowledge holding on to Christ rather than walking this world thinking you know everything holding onto your pride. ~ It's your own journey, walk it well and once you feel like you understand both , that is when you can pick your side. Wish the best of luck.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes @whitetiger2288 you are correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @linda3 I like what you have to say it is very nice but true at the same time!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is very true what you said :) its very nice and true as cowgirlcrazy66 said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you @whitetiger2288

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np :)

OpenStudy (linda3):

Thank you! All glory to God <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Amen!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AMEN is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is right :)

OpenStudy (blues):

As a scientist and non-Christian (not a Richard Dawkins fan, before someone accuses me of that, but a believer in the fundamental goodness of all sentient creatures and in rational intellectual methods), I believe in evolution and do not believe in creationism. I think Science and Christianity are reconcilable only when one moves away from a literal and toward an allegorical interpretation of the Bible. Away from the "God shaped the world exactly as we see it today and did so in six days with the seventh for rest" approach, and more toward seeing the world as a process that God initialised under forces that God set in motion and controls. Please note that I compare those approaches without putting a value judgement on them - without calling one simplistic or the other sophisticated. And please note that I will not defend that point as I present it for consideration without believing it myself. Btw, thanks to all for keeping this discussion respectful. It so often isn't - which is a tragedy as it leads to so much needless misunderstanding, hurt, anger, frustration, mistrust and hate between science and religion, on both sides.
