I just need to know if i got this right >.>
Gordon is evaluating some stocks he wants to purchase. You can see the function of the stock price below. The variable x represents days. Stock A B C Price f(x) = 25(1.08)x x f(x) 0 22.00 1 21.56 2 21.13 The initial price of this stock is $30, but it has been increasing 4% each day. 1. Create the price function for Stock D. It should have the second lowest starting price and the second highest rate of growth. Using complete sentences, justify that your function meets these requirements. my answer ---> f(x) = 30(1.4)x
4% is 0.04 if you grow at 4% , the factor is 1 + 0.04 = 1.04 (not 1.4)
also, you should write it with ^ to show the x is an exponent f(x)= 30 (1.04)^x \[ f(x)= 30 (1.04)^x \]
I can't make out the details of the 4 stocks... but they want Create the price function for Stock D. It should have the second lowest starting price and the second highest rate of growth. they want D to have the second lowest starting price. 30 does not look 2nd lowest. Is it ?? Also, what are the growth rates of the other stocks ?
so would it be f(x) = 24(1.4)x i redid it and this is what i can up with @phi
This is actually an flvs assignment, the table they gave you is suppose to help guide you through the first few parts, the people who have answered this don't notice that x.x http://prntscr.com/32xidt it has to have the second to lowest price, so 30 would actually be wrong. f(x) = 24(1.06)^x would be better. The stock that has the highest staring price is Stock C, the second is stock A and third is B so stock D has to be in between A and B. The stock that has the highest rate of growth is A (8%) following B which has a rate of 4%, C has the lowest rate of growth with 2%. Furthermore, because stock D has to have the second highest growth rate it has to be in between 7-5 percent. I chose 6.
ok then i was waaaaaay off -_- thank you!
