OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

The dashed triangle is a dilation image of the solid triangle with the center of the origin. Is the dilation an enlargement or a reduction? Find the scale factor of the dilation.

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

How long is the big triangle along x? How long is the little baby triangle along x?

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

the big triangle is 6 units and the little triangle is 2 units. Is that correct?

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

That's right so how many times smaller is the little baby triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which do you think it is, an enlargement or reduction? For the scale factor, compare the lengths of two corresponding distances (eg length of a side, or height or width) of both triangles. The scale will be the number that you multiply the smaller length by to get the bigger length For example, for the small triangle I see that the leftmost vertex is at -2 while the base is at +2, so the distance is 4, and for the bigger triangle the leftmost vertex is at -6 and the base is at +6

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

@doc.brown is it 4?
