Terribly. They would be regularly beaten, verbally abused, starved, and more. Josef Mengele was notorious for performing horrific medical experiments on detainees, including children. He performed vivisection on many of his victims, usually without anesthesia, surgically removing body parts while the person was fully conscious. This type of experimentation and torture was not confined to Auschwitz, but seemed widespread throughout all the death camps.
