OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

What's the formula for the repulsive force between two objects?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Sure. What's the formula?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Do you know the value of k?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Okay, well, I'll give it to you: \[F = k_e \frac{q_1 q_2}{r^2} = 8.98755*10^9\text{ Nm}^2\text{C}^{-2}*\frac{3.0*10^-6\text{ C}*3.0*10^-6\text{ C}}{r^2} = 0.90\text{ N}\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Nuts, I didn't format that quite right: \[F = k_e \frac{q_1 q_2}{r^2} = 8.98755*10^9\text{ Nm}^2\text{C}^{-2}*\frac{3.0*10^{-6}\text{ C}*3.0*10^{-6}\text{ C}}{r^2} = 0.90\text{ N}\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

It should be obvious what the answer is to 4 or 5 decimal places even without a calculator, though maybe not at 3 AM :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still confused
