Why would you expect a plate to hold more excess charge on each of its conducting surfaces when the voltage difference between the two pieces of conductor increases?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(Q = CV\)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

keeping \(C\) constant, as you increase \(V\), charge has to increase - thats mathically speaking

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

physically - when the potential difference between plates increases, the electric field between plates increases

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

that electric field pushes some more charge from one plate to other - resulting in increase in charge on each plate

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

let me knw if something doesnt make sense
