et U = {q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z} A = {q, s, u, w, y} B = {q, s, y, z} C = {v, w, x, y, z}. List the elements in the set. A ∩ (B C)

OpenStudy (kainui):

I can't see what's between set B and C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is U

OpenStudy (kainui):

A ∩ (B U C) So first find out was B U C is, which is just the union of those sets. That means you just make a set that has all the members of both B and C. If both sets have the same thing, you just include it once in their union. For instance, {1,2,3} U {3,4,5} is just the set {1,2,3,4,5}. Intersection is different, it's the ∩ symbol. This means you only include things that are in both sets. For example, {10,20,30} ∩ {18,20,22, 30,32} is the set {20,30}
