B definitely isn't right - genetic engineering (manipulating organisms' DNA) is a big, big part of modern genetics.

I agree. Natural selection is not a big part of research. That said, it is a badly worded question. So I'm not 100% sure. Natural selection definitely does happen in the lab under certain specific cases. I could make a case for each one of them happening under specific cases in the lab - but natural selection is the least common and least likely.
