At a certain time of the day, a child whose height is 40 inches casts a shadow that is 26 inches long. At the same time, the child's father casts a shadow that is 44.2 inches long. Solve for x to determine the father's height in inches. (Points : 1) x = 28.7 x = 23.5 x = 63.5 x = 68

looks like more proportions! :)

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

do you have any ideas on how you might setup the solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

OK, so what I would do is setup the information like this (big triangle height)/(small triangle height) = (big triangle base)/(small triangle base)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh i didnt see the little triangle inside

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

yeah, they like to hide.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 68 right

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

I'll check...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
