Eliot is the spokesman of a group of writers who felt disenfranchised, betrayed, abandoned by America and who left to find an identity abroad. Or The Lovesong of J. Alfred Purfrock," written in 1917 by the expatriate T.S. Eliot, reflects the confusion and isolation some Americans felt during World War 1.
