You've been provided with fresh juvenile papaya leaves. Your aim is to isolate the protein-coding region of the gene uom and clone it into a plasmid vector for the production of the recombinant protein. You have the complete sequence information for gene uom. For the cloning experiment, what would you use as starting material: genomic DNA or RNA? Justify your answer.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you would wanna use RNA because it contains the "net" sequence, while genomic DNA has introns and exons that need to be spliced out. Then use a reverse transcriptase because RNA is very susceptible to degradation and you will lose the strand very fast.

Okay. thank you and what strategy would you use to clone it with plasmid dna?
