Write the function rule g(x) after the given transformations of the graph of f(x)=4x. reflection in the y-axis; vertical compression by a factor of 1/8

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

have you covered transformations yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello, yes the only thing we've went over is Vertical translations and Horizontal translations.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\large \begin{array}{rrrllll} f(x)={\color{red}{ 4x}} \\ \quad \\ \quad \\ -{\color{red}{ \square }}&\textit{reflection over the y-axis}\\ -\cfrac{1}{8}{\color{red}{ \square }}&\textit{vertical compression by }\cfrac{1}{8} \end{array}\) though 1/8 is not really a compression of the graph, more like it'll expand it but I gather that's just the wording used

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm actually one sec... shoot. I did a reflection over the x-axis...

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm actually.... anyhow 4x is just a line... I was thinking quadratic... so... tis ok, that'd be a reflection over the y-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, thank you so much kind soul, god bless you! You may have helped a kid graduate this year. :')
