How is the office of the governor similar to the office of the president

A governor is still a leader, only with responsibilities that focus on a state, a city, etc.. rather than the entire nation. I guess you could say that they're like a mini-president. It's also sometimes used as a stepping stone to the Oval Office. As one example, Ronald Reagan, before becoming President, was the governor of California for two terms.
