How long is the minute hand on a clock whose tip travels 15 cm from 1:15 to 1:30 to the nearest tenth? I understand S=rθ but I don't understand why the radians would equal pi/2 or 90*.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Because the minute hand, in going from 1:15 to 1:30, moves through 90°

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! I was thinking about the hour hand. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Okay - glad to help out. :-)
