How did southern Democrats react to President Truman's support of civil rights and his proposals to end poll taxes and lynchings? A. They formed a new party and ran their own candidate for president in 1948. B. They voted for the Republican candidate in the 1948 election. C. They boycotted the 1948 election. D. They dumped Truman from the Democratic ticket in the 1948 election.

I'd probably go with (A). They were pretty upset over Truman's work in trying to build up civil rights and a number of Southern Democrats simply walked out and created their own party (States' Rights Democratic Party) in response.
