The sum of two positive numbers is greater than 1. Can their product be less than .01?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Positive numbers can be any number which is postie, including fractions. (1/2), (6/10), (66/4) Positive integers are whole numbers, suchb as 1, 2, 3, ....10000

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Pick a number greater than 1. Call it \(a\). Now calculate \(0.009/a\) and call it \(b\). \(a+b\) will be greater than 1, because \(a\) is greater than 1 and \(b\) is greater than 0. \(a*b = 0.009\) which is less than \(0.01\).
