Maggie says that if she adds any two negative integers, the result will always be a negative integer, but if she subtracts the same two negative integers, the result will always be a positive integer. Part A: Explain why you agree or disagree with Maggie's statement. Part B: Give one example of adding two negative integers and one example of subtracting the same two negative integers that support your explanation in Part A.

Do you think she is wrong is both statements? lets try to figure out the first one: If i have two negative numbers, -a and -b, and I add them together, ie I have -a + (-b) will I have a negative number? It might help to think of the number line. If I start at some negative number to the left of 0 on the number line, and then I move b spaces to the left (which is the same as adding -b), will i be on the left side or the right side of 0?
