The length of a rectangle is 3 m less than twice the width, and the area of the rectangle is 14 m^2 . Find the dimensions of the rectangle. medal for answer correctly

OpenStudy (ranga):

Let L be the length and W be the width of the rectangle. " length of a rectangle is 3 m less than twice the width" L = 2W - 3 ---- (1) "area of the rectangle is 14 m^2" L * W = 14 ----- (2) You have 2 equations and 2 unknowns. Take L from (1) and substitute it in (2) and solve for W. Then put that value in (1) and solve for L.
