Find the midpoint of the line segment with the given endpoints. 1. (9,8) and (-3,4)

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

X=average of 2 x values Y=average of your two y values X+Y=(x,y)=midpoint

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

zebra, I feel like getting you banned for giving out answers

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

exactlyy..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol its ok i have 10 of these to do guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess I misunderstood the site. I'm new here.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

can we try to put that in a coordinate system, @countonme123 so that I can show you the whole concept both analytically and graphically?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mind=blown and confused

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

put your coordinates in a cartesian graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

Look at the x coordinates and the y coordinates individually. Take the largest x, subtract the smaller x from it, then divide it by two and you have your x midpoint. Do the same with y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 - -3= 12, 12/2=6, -3+6=your x midpoint.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8-4=4, 4/2=2, 4+2=your y midpoint.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure that doesnt seem right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9- -3 is the same as 9+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt the answer be 6,6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sure. anyone else back me up or help clarify?
