Okay, So I'm new to this, but I was absent a couple days and have no clue what this is, but I have a test coming up soon, I would like to have some one walk me through this "The area of a rectangular garden is given by the trinomial x^2+x-30. What are the possible dimensions of the rectangle? Use factoring." Thanks

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Factor! x^2+x-30 Think about this questions What two numbers make _+_=1 and _x_=-30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 + -4 5 X -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

errr 6+(-5) 6X-5

OpenStudy (littlebird):

When you factor you should get something like this.. (x+6)(x-5) If you multiply them with eachother they should give you the original equation again.

Alright, thanks
