how do i factor w2 + 3w-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

guys im studying for my asvab I need all the help I can get in a few hours

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

you want two things that multiply to -10 and add to 3 two number like that are -2 and 5 so (w-2)(w+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it like w2+3w-10=0, if so it should be w=5 or w=-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if not just do the magic "X"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

magic x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YEAH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is how you would solve most of those similar equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or you can use mental math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shall i explain how i look at it?
