Which is a good guideline to follow when looking for research material on the Internet? Pay attention to URL endings, such as .gov and .com. Use only search engines to find information. Use only professional-looking websites.

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

A.) Not a bad idea to pay attention to root name servers. B.) Search engines are a powerful tool but there are other ways to find information. (Always be wary of the word "only". (Always be wary of the word "always" too.)) C.) Professional-looking is not legitimate validation for citation. It's not that A is a particularly good guideline, it's just that B and C are bad guidelines.
