OpenStudy (acxbox22):

how do you solve vertical motion equations without factoring?

OpenStudy (nikato):

Quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (a1234):

Graphing?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

yes, i have been stuck on 0=-16t^2+80t+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quadratic formula

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

you cant factor it and my teacher said we couldnt use quadratic formula

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

even though i did for one because i was so frustrated

OpenStudy (a1234):

You can graph by finding the vertex, y-intercept, and one other point.

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

cant you just solve for t without graphing?

OpenStudy (a1234):

I don't know of any other way.

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

same, oh well got use quadratic formula

OpenStudy (a1234):

But you would get the roots (x-intercepts) if you graph.

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

yes but you would have had to estimate

OpenStudy (a1234):

Try this, just so you know what the roots are. http://www.mathsisfun.com/quadratic-equation-solver.html
