is f(x)=x/|x|-3 a continuous function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope.......modulus functions cannot be continuous....

Think what happens when x is zero. Then that denominator is zero and the x/abs(x) will be undefined. If a function becomes undefined then it cannot be continuous at that point. However this function is continuous at all other values of x.
