reverned james insists that every person attending easter servises make a cash donation to the charity box there are three choices a small donation of $1, a moderate donation and a large donation the large donation is 4 times as big as the moderate donation . If 120 people attend easter servicw and 50% make a large donation 20% make a small donation and the rest of the people make a moderate donation $ 4,440 will be collected how much money is a moderate colection?

OpenStudy (richyw):

hmm. there are a few ways to work out this problem. you could do it all in one step, but it might be easier to break it into smaller chunks.

OpenStudy (richyw):

the first thing I would do is figure out how many people make each type of donation. You know the number of people attending the show, and the percentages, so you can work that out right?

OpenStudy (richyw):

For example 20% of 120 people made a small payment. So the number of people who made a small payment is\[0.2\times 120=24\]

OpenStudy (richyw):

then you would simply write this out as a system of two equations and solve it for the medium donation. I would show you buy I suspect you are not here at the moment.
