Given that the equation x2 - 10x + y2 + 8y = -5 is a circle, what would be the next step in completing the square so that the equation is in general form?

x^2 - 10x = (x - 5)^2 - 25 do the same for (y^2 + 8y

First, are you familiar with "completing the square?" If so, is it possible to complete the square when x terms are scattered on both sides of the given equation?
