Can anyone help me brainstorm some ideas ?
In a short essay of at least two paragraphs, support or dispute the benefits of an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would require the government to have a balanced budget. This would mean that the government could not spend more than its revenue in any given year. In addition, analyze the effects the national debt has on the U.S. economy. Include logical, detailed reasons that support your opinion.

U.S. history and politics usually follows the basis of people vs. government. There is much debate on how large the government should be, and the U.S. has always followed the idea that the people should rule over the government. Considering the importance of what I just said, you might want to include a focus on that, and perhaps note the fact that by giving the government a balanced budget, the people would be in more control.
You also might want to include Adam Smith's invisible hand, and the idea of the free market. Hope that helps!
