5. (5 points) In a dihybrid cross between RrTt and RRtt, what are the genotype and phenotype ratios of the offspring, assuming R and T are dominant? R codes for round seed, while r codes for wrinkled seed. T codes for tall height, while t codes for short height. (Show your Punnett Square).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe someone else has asked this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would love help to get it started such as: Rrtt, RRTT and so on. I am jst confused in how to start this and would appreciate any help I can get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well u need to understand that there are standard ratios for the genotype and phenotype for a dihybrid cross. u can google those. that might be a start

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can than do the entire dhybrid cross and c if u get the same ratios so u know where they came from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what I have so far:Rr Tt RT rt RRRr RRTt RRRT RRrt ¼ R or 25% Rrtt Tttt RTtt rttt RtRr RtTt RtRT Rtrt RtRr RtTt RtRT Rtrt Cross between RR tt Rt Rt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it Rr Tt RT rt RRRr RRTt RRRT RRrt ¼ R or 25% Rrtt Tttt RTtt rttt RtRr RtTt RtRT Rtrt RtRr RtTt RtRT Rtrt Cross between RR tt Rt Rt did not post exact but my punnett square looks like the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think that u can do 2 punnet squares for both scenarios given and then for the specific questions u can use the ratios from each square and use the "and or" rules to find the answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and or rules meaning?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

recessive versus dominant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well this isn't concerning ur specific questions but when doing dihybrid crosses, some ppl will ask questions such as "what is the probability that a offspring will x AND x" or "what is the probability that so and so will have x OR x" where x is a specific trait that they would want.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the genotype and phenotype ratios of the offspring, assuming R and T are dominantwell it is asking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont kno why it mixes my sentences up but it is asking what are the genotype and phenotype ratios of the offspring, assuming R and T are dominant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the genotype and phenotype would be the answers in the punnett square right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just trying to figure out the ratios or percentages, thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im assuming F2 generation then? phenotype: 9:3:3:1 genotype: 1:2:2:4:1:2:1:2:1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so can you explain how you got that thanks so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dihybrid_cross.svg paste this. wikipedia does as well a job as i could

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a couple more problems do you have time to help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um just post them and tag my name im gonna eat soon but just make a new question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
