Why do you think gamma rays have such high penetrating power?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

bcoz it dont have much mass :P compared to alpha and beta rays :)

Gamma rays rarely interact with the atoms in matter thus they can travel long distances without getting absorbed. This is because they have no charge which would result in them being highly ionising. Also gamma rays have no mass which is also a factor.
