Solve for x. √(89) √(39) √(26) https://media.glynlyon.com/g_geo_2013/5/group134.gif

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

pythagora!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im using tan, i tried with every answer option and getting them all false

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you cannot use tan cuz u dont knw any of the angles yet

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

simply use pythagora : a^2 + b^2 = c^2

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

sum of squares of legs = square of hypotenuse

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

5^2 + 8^2 = x^2 solve x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh, so you dont need to use SOG CAH TOA when there are no angles?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes, SOH-CAH-TOA are defined based on angle and ratio of sides you need atleast one angle to find the unknown sides

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

rule of thumb : Always try pythagora first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay then. that makes sense. √(89)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
