Angles JNH and ANE measure ____ degrees. (Hint: The measure of angles formed by a chord-chord pair is half the sum of the intercepted arcs.) https://courseplayer.avalearning.com/NeutralLMS/coursefiles/Questions/835123/design2.png

Someone help?

OpenStudy (ranga):

angle JNH = 1/2( arc JIH + arc ACE ). Yet to figure out how to find arc JIH + arc ACE.

OpenStudy (ranga):

Oh, the points A, B, C, ...L on the outermost circle are 12 vertices forming a 12-sided polygon. So each side makes an angle of 360/12 = 30 degrees at the center. Arc JIH covers 2 sides out of 12 and so the arc JIH makes 2 * 30 = 60 degrees. Arc ACE covers 4 sides out of 12 and so the arc ACE makes 4 * 30 = 120 degrees. Angle JNH = 1/2( arc JIH + arc ACE ) = 1/2 (60 + 120) = 1/2 * 180 = 90 degrees.
