The perimeter of a rectangle is 2*length + 2*width If we call the width x, then we can write 'The length is twice the width' as length=2x So the perimeter = 72 = 2*2x +2*x Collecting terms we have 72 = 6x, then dividing both sides by 6 we get x = 12 So the width is 12cm and the length is 24cm
