Tension in 3D Three cables are used to support a sign weighing 500 lbs. Each cable is anchored at a location with the given coordinates (x, y, z). Find the tension in each of the cables A, B and C.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

hey @amistre64 think you can help at all with this one?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

tensions eh ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if it is in a state of rest ... the all the forces must cancel out

OpenStudy (amistre64):

OR are they assuming that the magnitude of each vector is the tension to find? its a bit vague to me

OpenStudy (amistre64):

maybe i should read the question lol

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

^ that is what I was assuming...the magnitudes would be the tension. And yes equilibrium... I've never worked on 3D tension problems before so this is a curveball for me

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its just an extra information to keep track of ... find that angle of each vector between the .. loos like a zx plane for confusion
