if you grab a pancake mix, and you grab so many cups to make breakfast for you, say 1.5 cup for one person

when your friends show up at the weekend, 11 of them, and you need to make breakfast pancakes for all of them

how do you know how many cups you'd need to use?   well, thus the ratio or proportion
