Anybody who has read great expectations..i need help with a quote analysis....please :)
“I don’t know what you owe, because you don’t know; and if you did know, you wouldn’t tell me; you would say less.” This is cried by Mr. Jaggers.
He's saying that he doesn't know what the person owes him but if he asked, the person would just say that he owed him less than what he should have owed him. :)
i don't really think thts the analysis my teacher was looking for...thats basically defining the quote but thx anyways
it means that if a person owes something for someone he will never go and remind him again and again. he would simply say I don't know..! and even if the person knows and he askes him still the person would speak less than what he really owe him..! because he is so generous or on the other hand u can say that he has no words to tell the person what does he owe him. I hope it will help u..!
