*The Lottery by Shirley Jackson* What happens if you win the lottery and what happens if you lose the lottery?
when you lose the lottery, you get stoned to death. if you ever want to read it http://sites.middlebury.edu/individualandthesociety/files/2010/09/jackson_lottery.pdf
thank you! I actually read it before in 9th grade, but I was stuck on this part that I need clarification.
well, i meant when you win the lottery you get stoned to death.. But, your welcome!
it said on spark notes it doesn't really clarify on how you win the lottery
Win = death Lose = freedom
In the first round of the lottery, the head of each family draws a small slip of paper from a black box; Bill Hutchinson gets the one slip with a black spot, meaning that his family has been chosen. In the next round, each Hutchinson family member draws a slip, and Bill's wife Tessie gets the marked slip. In keeping with tradition, each villager obtains a stone and begins to surround Tessie. The story ends as Tessie is stoned to death while she bemoans the unfairness of the situation. Thats how they win the lottery
win = deaths right basically
Yeah :D
lose = lucky right
yep!
thanks you're such a big help
