Solve |2x - 2| < 8 {x|-3 < x < 5} {x|x < -3 or x > 5} {x|-5 < x < 3}

First, you should look at the sign of the original equation. If there is a less than sign, then the answer will have an AND inequality. If there is a greater than sign, then the answer will have an OR inequality. You can remember this by: greatOR and less thAN(D). This way, you can immediately rule out the middle answer. Now you have to start solving. \[2x-2<8\]\[2x<10\]\[x<5\]AND \[2x-2>-8\]\[2x>-6\]\[x>-3\] And so you get x<5 AND x>-3 which can also be written as -3<x<5.
