PLEASE HELP W/ MARINE BIOLOGY What is a mangrove forest? forest comprised of low level pine trees forest comprised of scrubby plants forest comprised of tall hardwood trees forest comprised of hardy salt tolerant trees Mangrove trees withstand all of the following conditions except extreme changes in salinity dry arid soil muddy soil fluctuating oxygen levels Specialized structures that allow mangroves to get oxygen in soil that is usually anaerobic are called rhizomes pores runners pneumatophores

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mangroves are various types of trees up to medium height and shrubs that grow in saline coastal sediment habitats in the tropics and subtropics – mainly between latitudes 25° N and 25° S. The remaining mangrove forest areas of the world in 2000 was 53,190 square miles spanning 118 countries and territories.

OpenStudy (foreverjennnicole):

I read that but I still don't know what answer it would be. Is is scrubby plants?

OpenStudy (foreverjennnicole):

I know it's not A or C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seems like it

OpenStudy (foreverjennnicole):

I'm actually thinking it might be D. What about the other 2 questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think the second one would be D

OpenStudy (foreverjennnicole):

Do you know why or is it just a guess?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one is the guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mangroves adapted several methods for dealing with low soil oxygen. Mangroves have Aerial Roots, or pneumatophores, which are specialized roots exposed to the air during low tide. The roots are covered in lenticels and contain aerenchyma. this could help answer the third one

OpenStudy (foreverjennnicole):

Okay. Thanks for your help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one is B

OpenStudy (foreverjennnicole):

Yeah, I think it's D, B, D. Thanks
