Could somebody help me solve this please? http://gyazo.com/9a4f628d52af9926658d86a2649a855c
your answer is D
Do you know how to complete the square?
Thank you Sensuelle, and no I do not gryphon.
Example Solve x^2 + 4x = -1 which is also x^2 +4x +1=0 Step 1 can be skipped in this example since the coefficient of x^2 is 1 Step 2 Move the number term to the right side of the equation: x^2 + 4x = -1 Step 3 Complete the square on the left side of the equation and balance this by adding the same number to the right side of the equation. (b/2)^2 = (4/2)^2 = 2^2 = 4 x^2 + 4x + 4 = -1 + 4 (x + 2)^2 = 3 Step 4 Take the square root on both sides of the equation: x + 2 = ±√3 = ±1.73 (to 2 decimals) Step 5 Subtract 2 from both sides: x = ±1.73 – 2 = -3.73 or -0.27
Wow thank you so much! Going to save this as reference
