your first step should be to try and put the equation into slope intercept form: this is where you have only "y" on one side of the equation and everything else on the other side of the equation (taking the form: y = m*x + b where m is your slope and b is your intercept)

so start by adding 3x to each side of the equation.. that way you get 8y = 3x - 24 then you want to get y alone to get the equation into slope intercept form so you have to divide each side of the equation by 8 y = (3x-24)/8 now just simplify and you'll have your slope and intercept
