What is the slope of the line x = -5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a simple formula:\[\frac{ y-y _{1} }{ x-x _{1} }\] Pick out one of you points and fill in the x and y. (3,-4) -4-y / 3-x Pick out the next point. (-2,1) -4-1/3--2 -5/5, which equals -1. And there you go

And for your next question, the slope of a vertical line like that one should be undefined. Horizontal lines will always be 0.
