A number cube with faces labeled 1–6 is rolled 72 times. About how many times would the result be 4? A. 4 B. 6 C. 8 D. 12

OpenStudy (arabpride):

settin up a proportion: 1/6 = x/72

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

If the number cube is "fair" and has an equal probability of rolling any of the 6 faces, your expected value would be the probability of rolling a 4 on one roll, multiplied by the number of rolls, as each roll is independent of what came before

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would honestly go with 12. cause if you take 72 and divide it by 6, you'll get 12. and that's a fair estimate on about how many times it'll land on 4. hoped i helped :)

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

What is the probability of rolling the number cube 1 time and getting a 4? 1/6 What is 72*1/6? That is your estimate of how many times, on average, you should see a 4 come up.
