Is this correct? Find the standard form of the equation of the parabola with a focus at (-4, 0) and a directrix at x = 4. y= -1/16 x^2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The directrix is vertical, so the equation will have y^2 and not x^2 in it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y= -1/16 x^2 @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the equation will have y^2 and not x^2 in it

oh my bad I have no idea how I put the same answer lol. I meant x= -1/16 y^2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

let me check

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

good, geogebra confirms it

thnx
