Whic of the following is a quadratic function? a. y = x2 – 20 b. y = x3 – 25x c. y = x4 + 13x d. y = x – 49 Find the vertex of the parabola formed by the following quadratic function: y = 3x2 – 6x + 2 a.(1, -1) b.(-1, 11) c.(-3, 47) d.(3, 11) Find the vertex of the parabola formed by the following quadratic function: y = -2x2 + 6x – 1 a.(3, -1) b. (3/2, 7/2) c.(-3, -37) d.(-3/2, -29/2) Identify the quadratic function that forms the graph of the parabola below: a. y = -x2 + 2x + 8 b.y = -x2 – 2x + 8 c. y = x2 + 2x – 8 d.y = x2 – 2x – 8 Identify the quadratic function

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Quadratic equations/polynomials have a degree of 2. That means x^2 is the highest degree variable in the polynomial.

@bruisedapple ... try solving the question with the information that @iPwnBunnies has given

At least #1...I'm not into the next 3.

The next three probably rely on diagrams not given, but you can do #2 and #3 with pretty basic calculus... #2 is (1, -1), #3 is (3/2, 7/2). For #4 just answer the following-- -Is the parabola a U-shape? If so, it must be +x^2, if it's like an "n" shape, it must be -x^2 -Is the "vertex" to the right of the y-axis, or the left? If it's to the left, then it must be -2x, if it's to the right, it must be +2x -At x = 0, is the function at +8, or -8? That'll tell you whether it's +8 or -8. Hope this helps
