which of the following statements is true?
https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2013/11/_m70836d.gif median < mode median = mode median > mode
I know how to find Mode and the median . but not on this format
mode is the most frequently occurring observation
here, "y axis" represents, "how many times" a particular observation occurred
so, mode is the highest bar... which is ?
Well wouldnt the mode be 4? it is the most occurring number?
how did u get "4" ?
here, mode is "300"
ohh I see!
cuz, the observation "300" is occurring 18 times which is the highest in the given graph !
next, count how many total observations are there and find out the median
There is 45 Observations right?
So Median<Mode?
Median>Mode my bad
100 has 7 boxes 200 has 3 boxes 300 has 9 boxes 400 has 6 boxes 500 has 1 boxes 600 has 6 boxes 700 has 4 boxes ------------------- total = 36 boxes
so, median is the average of 18th and 19th observation : however 18th and 19th observations fall in "300", so, median = 300
Im sorry I am confused. The median is the middle number in a data set. So would 150 be the median? I dont see how the median can be 300.
okay, how do u say 150 is the median ? how is it the middle of dataset ?
dataset wud look like below : 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, 100, 200, 200, 200, 300, 300, 300, ...
there are 7 observations that are 100, next there are 3 observations that are 200, next there are 9 observations that are 300, and so on...
since there are in total 36 observations, wat wud be the median ?
ohhhhh now I see. It would be 300 like you said.
So it would be Mode=Median because it is the most frequent or highest number of observations. Or am I still wrong?
you got it !!
okay thanks so much!!!!!
